FRESH canvaS

The homeowner of a well lived-in, Northeast Minneapolis Home called us in to help her reconsider the layout of her main level, culminating in the construction of a 3/4 bathroom. We planned for the new bathroom to take place in what was a small bedroom primarily used for art supplies.  The previous bathroom had been abandoned because it wasn’t functioning properly and was located awkwardly right off the kitchen.   The new bathroom is situated with a private, yet convenient, entry.

Before - Bedroom/Extra Studio Space

After - 3/4 Bathroom

The space, while small as a bedroom, is generous for a main level bathroom - even equipped with a linen closet! Being an artist, the homeowner was clear in her wish for a bright white bathroom for her to fill with a rotating collection of artifacts and art. Within the spectrum of bright white we selected a shower tile with dimension in both color and texture, also adding small moments of interest within the finishes and selections. The reclaimed light fixtures and sink tie into the the era of the home.

This project is a testament to how good design pays off even in tighter budgets. Knowing where your money will make its biggest impact is what we pride ourselves on.  A quick example: while tiling your shower floor may seem like a must do, a pre-fabricated shower pan disappears in this design. Okay one more: windows are a huge expense, we like to work out designs that work with existing windows. For this bathroom, the window panes were replaced with ones that are tempered for safety code and frosted for privacy. No fussy patching nor expensive new windows or trim work!
