The Soul of Home

Revealed by a Minnesota Architect

Ashley Mitlyng, architect and founder of Mitlyng Design, speaks the language of home. For the past 20 years, she’s been listening to the histories of homes and neighborhoods and helping define the soul of home. Together with a team of talented designers, Mitlyng Design works with the homeowners’ vision for how they want to live. Our designs draw out those elements in an approach that is respectful of character, beautifully functional, and efficiently purposeful.

Katie Loecken, associate architect, has been designing residential architecture for the last 9 years. She was a recipient of the Richard Morrill Award for her Masters Final Project as well as a Design Democracy Fellowship winner while receiving her Masters in Architecture from the University of Minnesota.

“Relational design with our clients is what makes residential architecture especially rewarding. It is an honor and joy to be invited into people’s lives and homes. We not only have the opportunity to build relationships with the families we serve, but we have the privilege to transform their lives through the spaces they “do life” in.” - Katie

Ashley has a great eye for detail. This resulted in a space that remained true to the original style of the home, but also made it feel new and fresh.
